Have you heard of this amazing organization? The Tiny Footprints Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They match affiliated photographers with families of infants living in the NICU to provide one complimentary lifestyle portrait session and one complimentary downloadable gallery with the digital images from the session. And I am honored to be one of these photographers.
I initially signed up to be a photographer to give back to these families. But, I’ve realized that it’s really these wonderful families that are giving a gift to me. They invite me into their space and often love to share their stories with me. This NICU environment is truly a different world for these families and I love that being a part of this organization gives me the opportunity to capture this time in their lives. For many, they are spending every day in the NICU with their babies and it becomes a home away from home. And I love that I get to have a glimpse of their stories, meet their strong tiny fighters and have the opportunity to capture this for them. It is really them giving me a gift and for that I am eternally thankful.
I have met so many sweet babies and families and I always free honored when we keep in touch after the session and I get to see updates on these families.
This particular baby was my first that I had the opportunity to photograph in the NICU and also what got me started with this great organization. She was so sweet and calm during her session. And her mama was so helpful with getting me comfortable in the NICU environment as I had never stepped foot in a NICU before. This family will always hold a special place in my heart and I love seeing her updates as she is a beautiful healthy 4 year old now despite her complicated start to life.
